Smoking Mirror 2011 from Martha King on Vimeo.

(2011)

Smoking Mirror, or Tezcatlipoca, my idea to have incense smoke travelling downward onto a mirrored bowl filled with cold water, and figuring out how to momentarily trap the smoke inside of the bowl. The instillation is built with a fan inside, with a glass incense holder between the fan and the mouth of the piece so the smoke is pushed down to the bowl below the hanging piece. The installation is meant to be touched, and the audience is free to swing the suspended sculpture around and control the path of the smoke.
